Foot care
This foot care covers nail trimming, callus and corn removal, moisturizing, and a foot massage. Any issues like infection or injuries are checked to determine if a care plan is needed.
For first visits the nurse starts with a full lower limb assessment of the legs, feet and toes to determine what kind of care is needed and how often. They then collaborate with the patient, and any caregivers, to decide a reasonable frequency of care going forward.
We understand that things change, and often! We pride ourselves on our flexibility in accommodating our patients wants and needs, with respect to the nurse’s insights.
Foot Care with Fungal Nail(s) Treatment
We offer Photodynamic Light Therapy to non-invasively treat fungus growth on nails. Our nurses come with a Genesis Health Light, which uses a laser that provides near-infrared light. This range of the light spectrum has the properties needed to treat fungus infections and restore health to your nails. Everything included in basic foot care in also provided.
This service comes at an increased price, varying based on your location, so make sure to contact us to get more information.
Foot Care with Personalized Orthosis
Our nurses are trained to know when to provide personalized orthotics. Sometimes when a patient suffers from bunions, corns, high or low arch feet, hammertoes, plantar warts or other foot related conditions, this treatment is recommended. Everything included in basic foot care is also provided.
The nurse creates either personalized soft silicone inter-digital wedges, toe separators, dorsal toe protectors or ortho-digital splints to alleviate symptoms.
Foot Care with Nail Straightening
The nurse uses specialty bracing to correct curved nails and alleviate pain related to curved nails. Everything included in basic foot care is also provided.
Option for patient to use their own nail polish application or to purchase a nail polish that is best suited to their needs. Combines well with Dani-Pro anti fungal nail polish treatment.
Foot Care with ABI
Please consult with your nurse to discuss whether this treatment is right for you. ABI is a quick test that shows us if a patient has peripheral artery disease (PAD). The test non-invasively compares the blood pressure in your arms to your ankles. We can determine if there is enough blood flow in your legs, and if further treatment is needed.
The nurse will perform an ABI using the Doppler Ultrasound. The patient receives foot care lying down, as they must be lying down 10 minutes before starting the procedure. Foot care is done first and the ABI follows.
Filament Testing
A test to measure sensitivity to touch will be done using a soft nylon fibre called a monofilament. If you cannot feel the filament on your feet, it is a sign that you have lost sensation in those nerves.
This test is used for care plans and insurance purposes.

Our Policy for Long-Standing Patients

When booking appointments in residential home locations, the scheduled time will not precisely reflect the actual start time due to unforeseen circumstances or resident needs.

We will not force foot care or interrupt meals. We will not rush someone who needs extra TLC and avoid charging if someone with dementia declines. We will always remain open to discuss care planning with families.

If a patient specifically wishes for their appointment to start exactly on time, we kindly request that you inform us in advance. This allows us to make the necessary arrangements to ensure our nurse remains punctual.

At all times we strive to arrive within half an hour before or after the scheduled times due to the nature of community nursing.

Additionally, if a family member plans to receive foot care during the same time (enjoying the same lower rate) or wish to attend the appointment, please provide us with prior notice. This ensures our nurse is aware of the additional attendees and can plan accordingly to maintain our schedule.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us provide the best possible care.
